All ProTorque Final Mike Murillo vs David DeMarco Super Street 10.5
In Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W Mike Murillo grabbed another win over number one qualifier David DeMarco in a battle of nerves, as both drivers slid around the track in the heat of the day. Murillo ended up on top with a 6.90 to DeMarco’s 8.28
Missing from the first two Mickey Thompson Super Street 10.5W qualifying sessions was David DeMarco, but rather than kicking back in the toterhome, he was working to remedy engine and electrical issues. After having parts delivered over night, he finished just in time to make the final qualifying session, where he laid down a 6.52 at 231 in his Proline-built 540 cubic-inch twin Precision turbos car. He was forced to lift during his first round bye-run, but blasted to a 7.12 at 187 in the second round for the win over a troubled Brian Hicks.
“A lot of crew, racers and friends really stepped up, and Proline really stepped up and worked hard, and a huge weight is lifted off my shoulders,” said DeMarco. “I have to thank my crew chief, Jamie Miller, and my crew, including Doug, Sondra, Big Money and George Rumore and also Victory Racecraft.”
